Gaustatoppen
WIth its 1883 meter asl, Gaustatoppen is southern Norway's highest mountain and without doubt the most accessible. You can reach the foot of the mountain by car both summer and winter and from here it is a 2 hour hike to the summit. From recreational hiking trips to extreme off-piste skiing, you won't find a more suitable mountain than Gaustatoppen.
Rjukan Adventure offers guided off-piste skiing on Gaustatoppen from beginning of March until end of May. Check out more info about our guided off-piste skiing on Gaustatoppen.
Gaustabanen
Gaustabanen is a train inside the mountain. Once built for NATO it is now available for public use, and it's a fantastic option for skiers who wants to ski more and walk less.
Gaustatoppen hut
The hut, located close to the summit, is run by DNT. It's open in summer and spring, serving food and offering accommodation.
Gaustatoppen ridge
The highest point of Gaustatoppen is located out on the top ridge, which stretches several kilometers. Even in summer, the top ridge offers far more technically difficult terrain than the trail up to the hut, but for anyone who want to get the full experience of Gaustatoppen, we recommend the ridge traverse.
Througout the summer season we have daily guided ridge traverses on Gaustatoppen. Read more about our ridge traverse.
